Choosing the right cutting or grinding disc can save you time, money and, most importantly, keep operators safe. With hundreds of series on the market, the choice comes down to matching the disc to your application, your machine and your material.

Know Your Application

Different materials demand different abrasive grains and bonds:

  • Carbon steel and metal fabrication — aluminium oxide discs are the workhorse choice.
  • Stainless steel and alloys — use discs with a lower-inclusion, long-life grain to avoid contamination and overheating.
  • Stone, concrete and masonry — need reinforced abrasive segments designed for hard, brittle surfaces.
  • Woodworking — alloy-tipped saw blades rather than bonded abrasives give clean, precise cuts.

Check the Safety Marks

Only use discs carrying EN 12413 certification and an MPA type-testing mark. The maximum operating speed printed on the disc must always be equal to or higher than the speed of your machine. Never exceed it.

Match Size, Thickness and Bore

Diameter and bore must fit your tool exactly, and the disc thickness should match the cut width and feed pressure you expect. A disc too thin bends; one too thick wastes material and slows the cut.

Buying in Bulk

Distributors and workshops should source from a factory with stable grain quality, consistent packaging and full certification documents. Factory-direct supply keeps unit costs low and stock predictable.
